Editorial: the launch issue is here!
Turn off the TV, put the cat out, close your instant messenger: The WordPress Magazine is here!
Thanks to everyone who filled in the survey. A weekly “quick project” was very popular, so there will always be one of those: something you can add to your blog in a spare twenty minutes. The tutorial series was also popular, so starting this issue you can follow our “make a theme” series. I will guide you through designing your very own WordPress theme from scratch.
Every issue there will be a slightly more off-topic article, which will be about the world of blogging and social media. This issue I spoke to Danno about his WordPress-powered art website and about how blogging can help to change the world a little.
A big thank you to everyone on the #wordpress IRC channel who have helped out with this project in one way or another. Some of their websites are featured on the supporters’ icon wall in the middle of the front page; take a look at them, you might find something you like! But more than anyone else, thanks to the person who replied in the survey that “there are enough sites offering this already and most are [rubbish]“. You really helped to nail the major selling point of WP Mag there. In fact, the tagline was very nearly “Like all those other WordPress sites out there, just not rubbish”.
If you have any feedback about articles, comment on them: I really would like to hear what you think! Leave your ideas for future articles in the comments below or you can contact me directly. Finally, to the 13 people who want breakfast cereal in a “W” shape: I’m working on it.
Enjoy!
Steve

Things look fantastic, the content is great and it’s got a man at the helm who can make this the most fantastic resource for WP users. Congratulations, the best of luck and chat to you very soon!
Thanks Danno and Richard! Yeah, I thought WordPress grey for the carpet was a good choice (#464646) lol. Everyone’s support means so much to me :).
